Is Natalee’s Mom Trying to Tell Us Something? (VIDEO)
Natalee’s mom Beth and step-dad went On the Record tonight with some valuable information. Beth said that Natalee’s purse and cash was in her room, however according to reports she never returned to the hotel. Is Natalee’s mom trying to tell us something?
You might be thinking, “Why didn’t Beth just come out and be blatant about the details instead of leak it out in an interview?”.
Well according to the comments at the Scared Monkey’s discussion threads, if anything is leaked out of the investigation the government can close it and there will be no justice for Natalee.

Teenage girls often do not take their purses with them when they go out. They put their ID and cash in their pockets so they don’t have to keep up with a purse.

Because her purse and cash are in the hotel room means that Natalee was responsible with her belongings. She probably only took enough cash and her ID with her so she wouldn’t lose any of it or spend it all. I know when I go out I take only a certain amount of cash and my ID in my pocket. A purse is a pain to keep up with while you are out and about.

I agree with Daughton. When I was in college and going out to bars I never took my purse…. Just my ID and a $20. These days I would take my ID and a debit card probably and just run a tab.

Actually it is not new news that she left her purse and all in her hotel room. I have heard that from the beginning. I live near Birmingham and it was all over local news and I even heard it on national news too. Its not new.

It may not be new, however it is being brought up a lot suddenly. It is something to think about ..
I am not a woman, and it may be common for women to leave their belongings behind however Natalee being a teenage girl and not used to the bar scene and doesn’t know how wild Carlos ‘N Charlies can get, probably didn’t know whether to leave it or take it. And where did she put her hotel key? In her shoes? I am not sure about you, but it is pretty uncomfortable having a key knab you in the foot. The idea behind this situation isn’t Natalee taking it back to her hotel room, but one of the boys taking it back.

Her Mother just said on Fox News that she took her ID and $50 with her that night. Obviously her roommate knew that.

I for one do not find it odd that Natalee only took money and her id..as stated before its easier to have fun when not worried about your purse all night.. In addition its most likely her key was a keycard like most hotels.. and likely only one of the girls took it with themm they probably figured they would all be together.. also the front desk can let them into the room if they present Id.

Up until Natalee’s mom said she had money and an ID on FOX I did think it was a bit odd all her stuff was in her room. The fact is this is still wierd and I do think that a government cover up is going on. They botched the investigation because the Aruba gov’t thought they could handle everything and they couldn’t. We are back at Sq. 1.

Did anyone notice last night when Gretta was interviewing Beth, the question was asked if Natallee had a roommate and had she noticed if Natallee had come back to the hotel that
night. Beth said yes she did have a roommate and no Natallee had not been back that night to the room. But she looked at her husband very quickly, almost like she didn’t want to say more. I wonder if the roommate wasnt in all night either and there could be some effort to keep the gossip down about what all the other kids were doing that night. Seems to me if the kids had been acting more responsible and looking out for each other, the roommate could have alerted the chaperones hours before that Natallee had not shown up, especially if that was out of character for her. Im just wondering why this hasn’t been pursued more…. Where was the roommate and why didnt she tell someone natalle never made it in???

Regarding the purse and money in her room – this is not at all unususal for a girl to take only what she plans to spend and keep her money in her pocket to avoid having to keep up with her purse, especially if there’s dancing going on, and also to reduce the risk of it being stolen or lost. Maybe its a southern thing, I dont know, but we even do it when we’re going to the mall – take only what you absolutely have to have and leave the rest. So I wouldnt think there’s any hidden message there at all.

I agree with Kathleen, in college I used to take only a $10 or $20 with me to the bars tucked into the plastic of my pack of cigarettes with my photo id. This would cut down on the amount of things that I had to carry in my pocket. That is not at all unusual.

I agree that most teenage girl’s (including my own) if they know they will be dancing, don’t take their purse. They take photo ID & cash only. I pray for Natalee’s parents that they will know peace soon.

I just find it odd that an 18-year old in a foreign country wouldn’t be carrying a cell phone. Does anyone else find that unusual? Ive never heard Greta or Geraldo or any of the CNN people ask her parents about a cell phone. I thought all kids these days had them—especially traveling without their parents to foreign countries.

I read somewhere that she did have a cell phone, also left in the room and that the chaperone who stayed behind used Natalee’s cell phone that first day to call and question some of the kids upon their arrival back in Birmingham.
I can’t remember the source, so take it with a grain of salt.
Like others have said, it is not strange to only carry money and ID, and same holds true for cell phone, you wouldn’t expect to need to call anyone – your friends are out with you and who would plan on calling parents from the bar?
