Aruban Prosecutor Not Ruling Out More Arrests
Two big news items today:
One – Aruban prosecutor Mariaine Croes has been replaced by Caren Janssen in the Natalee Holloway case (not confirmed) and Croes may have been fired.
Secondly the prosecutor (whoever it may be) has not ruled out more arrests in the investigation.

I realize that “Croes” is a very popular surname in Aruba, but does anyone think that there can be a connection between Mariaine Croes and Steven Croes?
I know that any relationship/connection was denied in the AP stories, but I remember hearing that when they were just referring to Steven by his initials someone said he was also connected to a highly influential person in this case.

I thought so at first as well, but on the news Mariaine Croes was pronounced crows and Steven Croes was pronounced cruise. They might have misprounced though, so I dont know for sure.

It’s not just that “Croes” is a popular name … it’s THE MOST popular name. More popular in Aruba (by percentage) than Smith, Jones, and Brown combined in the US. Just a coincidence, I’m afraid.
As far as Stephen Croes being highly connected … there are only 72,000 total people on the island. “Everyone” except for the working visitors from neighboring islands is connected in some way to some elected official or important person.
