It took nine seconds to signal a turnaround in Sewanee’s football season Saturday.

But that’s all it was for Tiger defensive back George Twitty—just another nine seconds. For Twitty, tranquillity through the last four months of his life can be counted on a stopwatch.

Hope dwindles a little bit more every day. Happiness is reduced to moments of possibility.

Sewanee defeated Maryville College, 33-14, at Honaker Field in a game that was supposed to infuse momentum into the remainder of the Scots’ schedule. However, all that went streaking down the sideline in the first quarter when Twitty took an interception from MC backup quarterback Kevin McKeethan 33 yards to paydirt.
