Game Takes Away Pain for Sewanee Free Safety
(Natalee’s Brother)
SEWANEE, Tenn. — GEORGE TWITTY is a 5-11, 180-pound free safety.
If he has a future in sports, it’s in fixing broken bones.
He does not have a scholarship. He does not have a touchdown dance.
Twitty did not make it on ESPN this year. His team will not be going to a bowl.
But when Twitty and his teammates at the University of the South take the field at Rhodes Saturday afternoon, it will be the last game of a season he will never forget.
Because he survived.
He even had fun.
Considering everything, that’s an accomplishment.
So he will feel more than a little wistful when he suits up for the final time, when he puts on his shoulder pads, his helmet and his shoes.
The shoes, especially. They are his quiet tribute.
On the heel of the left shoe, he’s scrawled out an “N.”
On the heel of the right shoe, he’s scrawled out an “H.”
N. H.
Natalee Holloway.
“She is a great sister,” he said.
