AL – Natalee Holloway’s parents need help from potential tourists
Imagine for a moment that you and your family have a daughter who has been missing in a foreign country for five months.
If you can imagine the sheer frustration and helplessness you’d feel, then multiply that by your being treated as an annoyance and an inconvenience by that foreign country’s authorities, having unreturned phone calls, and a prosecutor’s refusal to meet with you when you flew to the country.
Only if you can imagine all that can you understand Beth Holloway Twitty’s support of Gov. Bob Riley’s call for an Aruban boycott by American tourists.
A letter sent by Natalee Holloway’s parents to the attorney general of Aruba on Nov. 1 (accessible on the Internet) lists complaints and requests the removal of the prosecutor, the deputy chief of police and an investigator on Natalee’s case.
Holloway’s parents have received no response. As a last resort, they are supporting the boycott.
This is not a case of a missing child who disappears and law enforcement, despite putting every effort into the investigation, not being able to locate the child after many months. These parents have been up against a brick wall trying to get information and cooperation from the Aruban police.
