Joran Goes ‘On the Record’
We just got back from a very quick trip to Aruba. We got word late last week (Friday?) that Joran van der Sloot would sit down for an interview with us in Aruba. The one agreement: that we wouldn’t edit it. That seemed fair to me. Frankly, I hate to have controversial interviews edited, since despite our best efforts, everyone — viewers and guests — yell “foul.” An unedited interview allows me to simply say, “Here it is. You be the judge.” Joran also did not want to do the interview in the United States, so we agreed on Aruba.

Greta Interviews Aruba Chaperone
Host of On The Record, Greta van Sustran interviewed Bob Plummer, a chaperone on Natalee’s trip. Plummer said nothing but good things about Natalee and her conduct during the trip.

Exclusive: ‘I Lied Because I Was Scared’
Feb. 23, 2006 — – Joran van der Sloot, the Dutch teen who was the last person seen with Natalee Holloway the night she disappeared in Aruba, said he lied about leaving the American teen alone at the beach because he was scared.
In an exclusive interview with ABC News’ Chris Cuomo for “Primetime,” van der Sloot said he had planned to have sex with Holloway when they left a bar together on May 30.
They went to the beach, but because van der Sloot said he didn’t have a condom, they did not have sex. He said the two “cuddled” on the beach, but then he said he wanted to go home, so he left Holloway on the beach.
He admits now it wasn’t the right thing to do. “At that moment in time, for me, it wasn’t the wrong thing,” he said. “It’s not something a real man would do. It’s not normal. It’s not right at all.”

Never-before-seen video shows Natalee Holloway with Joran van der Sloot.
Feb. 22, 2006 — Natalee Holloway, the Alabama teen who disappeared last May on a school trip to Aruba, sat at a blackjack table with Joran van der Sloot in a casino the night she disappeared, according to a videotape obtained exclusively by ABC News from a confidential source.
“I decided to go to the casino to play a free poker tournament,” van der Sloot told ABC News’ Chris Cuomo in an exclusive interview for “Primetime.”

Van Der Sloot and son served with civil lawsuit
In a new development, the Holloway family used stealth tactics to serve Joran Van Der Sloot and his father with a surprise civil lawsuit that had the Van Der Sloots worried they were in more than just legal danger.
Holloway family attorney John Q. Kelly joined ‘Live and Direct’ to discuss the civil case and the reactions from the Van Der Sloot family.
