The disappearance last spring of 18-year-old Natalee Holloway of Alabama during a high school graduation trip to Aruba has caused concern for Iowa parents and educators considering educational trips this year.
Anita Micich, principal at Roosevelt High School, said Holloway’s disappearance last year seems to be influencing some parents’ decisions about trips. Micich understands their concern.
“I worry about kids every day,” she said. “I worry about kids every weekend. I worry about kids all those times when they’re not in school and they’re gone for long periods of time.”
