BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC-TV MyFoxAL.com)—Aruban authorities have brought search dogs, jackhammers and tents to the home of Paul van der Sloot in their renewed search of Mountain Brook teenager Natalee Holloway.
Jossy Mansur, managing editor of El Diario, an Aruban newspaper, told FOX6 News about the developments Friday afternoon during a phone interview.
Paul Van der Sloot is one of several suspects who have been arrested and released during the past two years in the case. His son, Joran van der Sloot, is the last person known to have seen Holloway alive.
Joran van der Sloot says he left Holloway alone on a beach after the pair kissed.
Mansur tells FOX6 News a team of about 20 Dutch investigators recently came to Aruba to investigate the case. They served Paul van der Sloot with a search warrant for his house, then setup tents at the home and brought in search dogs and jackhammers.
Mansur says this action is not connected with the recent release of a book by Joran van der Sloot.
Holloway was 18 when she disappeared during a senior high school graduation trip with other classmates to Aruba in May 2005. She was last seen leaving a bar with three young men on May 30.
Dutch marines, the Aruban Coast Guard, the FBI and hundreds of volunteers have all searched the island and coastal areas of Aruba for Holloway, to no avail.
