All Beth Holloway Twitty wants is an answer to her question: what happened to my daughter?

For two years, there’s been no answer.

“It’s been a long, painful journey,” she said of the time span since her 18-year-old daughter, Natalee Holloway, vanished in Aruba.

“But I still remain hopeful that I will get an answer, she said on Greta Van Susteren’s ‘On the Record.’

The mother said that she keeps in contact with Natalee’s classmates, and that combined with faith maintains her strength.

Another thing that maintains her hope: the continuing search for truth.

“I think it has picked up lately,” the mother said of the case.

Holloway, from Mountain Brook, Alabama, vanished in the early hours of May 30, 2005, the last day of a five-day vacation to celebrate her high school graduation with 124 other students.

She was seen leaving a bar with Joran van der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers, Deepak and Satish Kalpoe. The brothers were jailed and later released after a judge ruled there was not enough evidence to hold them.

Van der Sloot, a Dutch citizen who has been attending college in the Netherlands, was also jailed and released. He has said he left Holloway alone on a beach after they kissed and he did not harm her.

At least 10 people have been arrested and released without charges. Hundreds more have been questioned.

The Dutch marines, the local coast guard, the FBI, hundreds of volunteers and others have scoured the island’s dunes, beaches and trash dumps for Holloway. Scuba divers and sonar-equipped coast guard ships have also examined the seabed in the unsolved disappearance.

And just recently, the case began to heat up again.

Dutch and Aruban investigators on May 13 went to the house of the Kalpoe brothers investigators conducted what they termed an “inspection” of the property where Deepak and Satish Kalpoe live with their parents. The brothers were not arrested, however.

That came just more than two weeks after investigators from the Netherlands dug up earth for two days outside the home of Joran van der Sloot.

Paulus van der Sloot, Joran’s father, told a Dutch television program that investigators seized diary notes and letters from him and his wife, as well as a personal computer that was returned later. He said he felt his privacy had been invaded.

Beth said that search — which she was not warned of due to Dutch laws — “probably hit me harder than anything else.”

“That was probably the most difficult thing I’ve faced in this journey,” because she knew that the investigators could be digging up Natalee’s body.

After two years, Beth Holloway Twitty still waits.

Holloway Family Still Looking for Closure

May 28th, 2007 by Debbie in Natalee's Family, Press Coverage

Meridian, Miss.
Reporter: Andrea Williams

This marked another holiday without closure in the case of missing Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway. However, some of her relatives in Meridian say they now have renewed hope that this could soon change.

It has been almost two years to the day since Dave Holloway’s daughter Natalee was last seen. On May 30, 2005, the then 18-year-old disappeared while vacationing with school friends on the island of Aruba.

Since that time, all leads have pretty much turned up cold. But there may be a turn in the case.

Natalee’s father said Monday that Dutch authorities took over the investigation from Arubans about six months ago and more hope for clues has emerged. Unlike in previous searches, Holloway says just last month Dutch authorities did a full search of the property belonging to the three men who were last seen with Natalee.

“Well, they had the forensic team on that property and they have since left and gone back to Holland,” Holloway said. “And as I understand, there are still 4 or 5 other investigators still on the island.”

As for the results from the recent searches, Holloway says it’s unknown when those could be released.

“The Dutch, unlike the Arubans, are very secretive on that type of thing,” said Holloway.

For the Holloway family this renewed investigation has brought renewed hope.

“One way or the other, I think we’ll finally get answers,” Holloway said. “And when it will be? I thought it would be long before now but one of these days we’ll find the answers.”

Texas Equusearch Fundraiser May 19, 2007

May 20th, 2007 by Debbie in Blog

BFN members Lousw, Grass and Ofir attended the TES Fundraiser in Hitchcock, TX on May 19, 2007.

Thank you Lousw for sharing your thoughts and pictures.

From Lousw:

I would have to say that the TES Fundraiser was a success. The activities were held inside the Exhibit Hall at the Galveston County Fairgrounds and the Hall was full. It was heartwarming to see so many people there – people who care so much about what TES is trying to do to make a difference for families who have missing children or other family members. It was not just adults there – teenagers, young adults and children were there as well – all in support of this great organization.

Tim Miller is such a gracious and dedicated person. Tim knows just what it is like for people to go through the terrible unknowing and he and his group do everything possible to bring resolution for those who are hurting. He does not give up on anyone. The walls of the Exhibit Hall were lined with posting of missing children and adults. Natalee’s poster is just one of many.

Thanks to Cindy and Cheryl who were so accommodating to us and for making a spot for Ofir to perform for this event. A very special thanks to Ofir for giving of her time and talent for this event and for Natalee. Thanks to grass whose untiring efforts made it possible for Ofir to attend.
